About Kurt Hausmann
Kurt Hausmann was born and raised in Northern California. Kurt from the age of eight took art lessons building his first foundations in the use of oils. A love for travel and history guided him towards his choice of a university. Attending Gonzaga in the early nineties, Kurt majored in history and minored in art. Studying abroad in Gonzaga's Florence program, his artistic talents were enriched by his Italian Grandmother. Kurt was instructed in painting, drawing, design and the delicate techniques of fresco while living in Florence Italy. Inspired by his surroundings, and extended family connections in Tuscany, Kurt specializes in portraying a bold sense of color to convey not only the form or shape of the subject, but the passion he sees before him. Kurt lives in San Francisco, California. Each year he travels to Villafranca, Italy. It's a small mountain village near to Pontremoli in the Lunigiana region. His extended family who still lives on the same land where his great-grandfather lived, and this region of old castles, hamlets, and rural life, will keep Kurt an active artisan for years to come.
